FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

Cambridge, MA, October 26, 2021 — MassHire Metro North Workforce Board (MNWB) today announced it has received a $50,000 donation from CVS Health to support Work to THRIVE, an initiative that focuses on workforce development efforts and fundraising in the Metro North communities of Chelsea, Everett, Revere and Malden. This investment is part of CVS Health’s commitment to address racial inequity and social determinants of health in underserved communities.

Work to THRIVE aims to address our society’s structural inequities and recognizes the intersectionality of structural racism, gender inequality, disability and other barriers by directing resources to communities disproportionately impacted by systemic inequities. To date, Work to THRIVE has provided or is in the process of providing over 75 individuals with Chromebooks and mobile hotspots for internet service to support them in job search and job training activities.

The generous donation from CVS Health will create the Metro North Workforce Resiliency Fund to support the residents of Chelsea, Everett, Malden and Revere (the “Fund”). This will be Work to THRIVE’s first foray into funding more comprehensive services and will provide up to $1,000 per individual to assist with job training supports such as childcare, transportation, digital access (computers, hot spots, etc.), school supplies, boots, tools, eviction support/housing and driver’s licenses. MNWB is excited to be partnering with The Neighborhood Developers to distribute these funds to the communities of Chelsea, Everett, Revere and Malden.

“We are thrilled to launch the Metro North Workforce Resiliency Fund with CVS Health’s support,” said MNWB President and CEO Chris Albrizio-Lee. “CVS Health has been a long-time supporter of our work in many ways and we are extremely thankful that we are able to take our partnership to the next level and make an even greater impact in our local communities.”

CVS Health supports MassHire Metro North’s vision of creating opportunities that unlock potential and help break the cycle of poverty for people of all backgrounds and believe that Work to THRIVE is well-positioned to execute on that vision.

“CVS Health is proud to be one of the first investors in MassHire Metro North Workforce Board’s Work to THRIVE initiative,” said Rick Laferriere, Senior Manager, Workforce Initiatives at CVS Health. “Through our partnership, we will help ensure people of all backgrounds have equal opportunity to securing employment and have the resources they need to be successful and reach their full potential.”
