SCHOOL TO CAREER CONNECTING ACTIVITIES

The MassHire Metro North Workforce Board Connecting Activities employment program provides meaningful employment, internships, and work readiness training to over 325 youth each year, working within high schools in Cambridge, Chelsea, Everett, Malden, Revere, Somerville, and Woburn.

School to Career Connecting Activities is an initiative of the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education funded by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. Connecting Activities provides youth with structured, paid and unpaid, internship and employment opportunities. Through this program, every employment opportunity is designed to provide optimal work-based learning experiences, with the goal of enhancing the student’s job performance and future employability.

Connecting Activities also provides additional career exploration and exposure opportunities through job fairs, job shadowing, industry panels and company tours. By working closely with an in-house job coach at each participating school, Youth Programs Specialists at the Metro North Workforce Board are able to provide comprehensive services and support for all youth participants.

Innovation Pathways (IP) are programs designed to give high school students coursework and experience in a specific high-demand industry, such as information technology, engineering, healthcare, life sciences, and advanced manufacturing.

Schools partner with their regional Workforce Boards as a requisite step in the application and designation process. The Metro North Workforce Board is pleased to partner with this region’s Innovation Pathways Designees. View a full list of the Designees below.
