The MassHire Metro North Career Center in Woburn hosted an Advanced Manufacturing Panel on June 18, 2019. Thirteen jobseekers attended!
The four panelists included a current and former member of our Workforce Board: Nancy Conti, Assistant Treasurer and HR Manager at Lytron and Joanna Dowling, President of the Center for Manufacturing Technology, a training provider. Other panelists were Michael Madden, a Technical Specialist and 25-year employee at Janis Research and Wendy Rennick, Human Resources Director at Janis Research.
The panelists discussed their organizations and what each business did, what they look for in hiring a candidate (mechanically inclined, willing to move within their organization, great soft skills, be a trainable employee, etc.). Jobseekers were surprised and happy that each business mentioned that age is not a factor when hiring. In fact, each business prefers to hire employees with a good amount of experience.
Following the panel, each jobseeker had the opportunity to speak with each business individually.
