On May 14, 2026, the second youth-focused NewBiz cohort concluded as four aspiring entrepreneurs graduated from the program with bourgeoning business plans. After 14 weeks of training through the Network for Teaching Entrepreneurship (NFTE) “Start It Up” curriculum, funded by the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) Youth grant, local youth learned business fundamentals, worked closely with mentors, prepared for the Certiport Entrepreneurship and Small Business (ESB) exam, pitched their ideas to an audience, and more. Congratulations D’jenifer Mompremier, Cristian Rivera, Edson DaSilva, and Anthony De Souza. Meet some of our recent graduates below!

D’jenifer Mompremier – 96 Revolution

Inspired by generations of Korean rice beauty traditions, D’jenifer Mompremier created 96 Revolution to bring the transformative power of rice to modern skincare. Working closely with her mentor, Taneshia Camillo-Sheffey, D’jenifer was able to build a successful strategy for her company, distribute rice mask samples at networking events, and develop her confidence. “Working with my mentor has been a big opportunity for me,” D’jenifer says. “I learned a lot from her, she helped me improve my public speaking, and more.”

Cristian Rivera – Shinenova Detailing

A 17-year-old entrepreneur from Somerville, MA, Cristian Rivera channeled his passion for cars and vehicle care in his creation of Shinenova Detailing. With interest in building a local service business that serves his community, Cristian prioritizes quality service and customer satisfaction for all of his clients. Cristian greatly valued working with NewBiz instructor, Dr. Gustavo Luna, throughout this cohort. “He is the greatest instructor I have ever met,” Cristian says. “Super helpful, great advice, and a great motivator.”

Edson DaSilva – Rue Noir

Committed to making his mark in the sustainable fashion industry, Edson DaSilva created Rue Noir to offer consumers high-quality apparel that doesn’t break the bank. His designs emphasize timeless sophistication and modern aesthetics, while utilizing High-GSM fabrics and premium materials to ensure durability and comfort. “I’m passionate about building Rue Noir into a brand that inspires confidence and individuality,” Edson says. Upon his completion of the NewBiz program, Edson plans to register Rue Noir as an official LLC.

Congratulations to all of our graduates from the 2026 NewBiz WIOA Youth Cohort! Additional thanks to program instructor Dr. Gustavo Luna and our mentors, Fábia Zuanetti, Taneshia Camillo-Sheffey, Ana M. Perez, and Aimee Nash, who supported and believed in our participants from the very beginning. Their commitment to building up the next generation of entrepreneurs helped make this program possible.
